Go for Broke!

Description

Go For Broke! is a 1951 film that chronicles the real-life story of the U.S. 442nd Regimental Combat Team. The group was formed by Presidential permission in 1943 by volunteer men that were Japanese-Americans. The movie follows the men as they go through their training and explores the many prejudices that the group faced as they served their time in Italy and France. Van Johnson, a popular war film hero who starred in more than 100 films, stars as Lt. Mike Grayson. Denied a transfer, Lt. Grayson is less than thrilled to helm this questionable group and he has to overcome prejudices and doubts of his own while in charge. The motto of the group became Go For Broke! and the men went on to become one of the most decorated army regiments in WWII.
