The Howl's Moving Castle is a Japanese animated fantasy movie that came out in 2004. It was directed and written by Hayao Miyazaki. He got the film idea from the book with the same name, and this book was written by Diana Wynne Jones. Miyazaki allows Sophie to shine as the novel's young woman and mother figure. At the beginning of the film Sophie is a eighteen year-old hat maker, but the curse changes her into a ninety year-old woman. At first Sophie is terrified of the changes; however, she is no longer an anxious or fearful person by the end of the film.
