The Donner Party

Description

The Donner Party is a 2009 Drama/Western film based on the true story of the infamous Donner Party, a traveling group of settlers heading west to California in the 1840s. William Hastings is commanding the wagon-train holding the Donner Party off course, promising a speedy arrival with a shortcut through the Sierra Nevada Mountains. With many snowstorms, the travelers and their leaders find themselves ensnared, freezing with no source of food. A small union is established called the Forlorn Hope, in hopes of arriving in California and seeking rescue. The fast approaching starvation and threat of agonizing death recedes the friendship of the group and they are forced to turn to cannibalism. Surviving on only the remains of the fallen members of the Donner Party, the rest of the living travelers must choose to sacrifice the other parties in order to maintain survival.
